BMA Designs

Athens, GA

Breckyn Jackson, owner of BMA Designs, has been offering interior design consulting to upscale residential clients throughout the southeast for more than ten years. Her work has been showcased in publications such as Better Homes & Gardens and Atlanta Magazine's HOME. "My role is to draw out the best in my clients—to uncover their preferences and craft distinctive living spaces that reflect their unique personalities."

BMA Designs began working with Made in Monroe many years ago, providing custom cabinetry and furniture for countless residential projects, including indoor and outdoor kitchens, bathroom vanities, living spaces, and wardrobes. "Made in Monroe possesses unique range – an expertise to create a broad range of cabinet styles. They know how to balance material choices, proportions, scale, and intricate details to bring my design vision to life for my clients. Whether it's a traditional or ultra-modern style, my goal is for each design to be elegantly simple, allowing the beauty of the materials to shine through. While each project is unique, all of my clients value Made in Monroe’s high quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.”

Breckyn sees partnering with Made in Monroe as a genuine 50/50 collaboration. It begins with her crafting a design concept for her client, complete with sample inspiration images and detailed measurements and guidelines. Made in Monroe then reviews these concepts, providing feedback and ideas from a materials and manufacturing standpoint via Basecamp, an efficient project management application. “I value their communication skills, and rely on their feedback, experience and cabinetry expertise. So much of the success of construction is about teamwork and blending the best ideas together to find the ideal solution,” shares Breckyn.

After experiencing such positive results working with Made in Monroe, Breckyn entrusted us with redesigning her own kitchen in her 1940s bungalow home. “I needed the design to really utilize every inch of space because I didn’t want to change the blueprint. I wanted the style to feel natural and more modern, but also respectful of the house exterior and the landscape around it. Made in Monroe does great work. They stand out quite nicely and I use them significantly.”

Brinkley Home

Athens, GA

Jenny Brinkley and her husband undertook an ambitious two-year project to build a new home on a modest-sized lot in an established neighborhood within the Five Points area of Athens. Their vision was for a transitional regency-inspired home that would harmonize with the neighborhood's aesthetic while optimizing square footage, particularly in the kitchen—the heart of the home. Jenny collaborated closely with Ellis Design Group to bring her specific vision to life, ensuring every detail reflected their desired style and functionality.

Among the artisans recommended by Ellis Design Group, Made in Monroe stood out as the top choice for Jenny. She selected Made in Monroe due to our ability to realize her envisioned design aesthetic with exceptional quality while maintaining a reasonable price point. “There was a unique cabinet door style I wanted for my master bathroom and I was told by other cabinet makers that they couldn’t do it. Made in Monroe said, ‘Sure, we can do that.’”

Made in Monroe created cabinetry for the entire home including the kitchen with a grand mantle over the stove, walk-in pantry, master and guest baths, and laundry room where Jenny waters her orchid collection. They also created custom furniture for Jenny’s home, a extra long credenza for the living room, two night stands for the master bedroom, and a floor-to-ceiling hideaway built-in bar for the dining room.

“I wanted the kitchen to have that classic English scullery feel to it, with a large center island and regency curves in the cabinet legs. Aside from appreciating the visual aesthetic of their work, every day when I pull out a drawer and close it, I can just feel the quality of the construction. Small experiences like that make for a better day.”

“Customer satisfaction was big. The other thing I really liked about Made in Monroe is their flexibility. When there were changes or additions, which are nearly impossible to avoid, they handled them with ease. They really do want to deliver what the customer wants.”

Williamson Home

Monroe, GA

Vickie Williamson and her husband built and have lived in their beautiful traditional home in Monroe for 28 years. After raising four boys and cooking and sharing thousands of meals in their kitchen, Vickie was ready to re-envision and re-model the timeworn space from the ground up. “I’ve always loved cooking and made sure our four sons learned to cook. It was a wonderful way to spend time together. The kitchen has always been the heart of our home so it required a lot of thought and care and the right team to conceive and recreate it from the ground up.”

Vickie had seen Made in Monroe’s work for other clients in Monroe and was impressed with their quality craftsmanship. While she consulted with Grace Backman of Maggie Griffin Design, Vickie served as the guided voice on the design of the kitchen to ensure the project met her functional expectations. “I’m a hands-on person, and I wanted to work collaboratively with a local team that would welcome my creative input and interaction. They allowed my personality, with its quirks, to show up in the space that I use the most in my home.”

Both functionality and aesthetics held significant importance for Vickie, who heavily utilizes her kitchen and sought to create a space conducive to engaging with her grown children and grandchildren while preparing meals together. With longevity in mind, careful consideration was given to the placement of storage for kitchen items, ensuring heavy stacks of plates and cast iron pans were easily accessible. “After using this kitchen for a couple of year now, I can say everything has held up really well!”

Made in Monroe’s work on the Williamson’s kitchen was featured in the Southern Lady’s Southern Style Decorating magazine May 2023 issue. The kitchen's neutral palette and subtle finishes were intentionally chosen to highlight the family's cherished treasures, such as heirloom china and a collection of wooden kitchen tools. Extending beyond the kitchen, Made in Monroe was tasked with crafting new cabinet fronts for the adjacent laundry room and butler's pantry as part of the overall remodeling project, contributing to a more unified and cohesive aesthetic throughout the home.

“They’re not just cabinet makers. They are skilled craftsman. And there’s a difference. If you want your space to be very personalized and unique to you, choose Made in Monroe.”
